To the left is a large feature fireplace, and to the right steps down lead to a large kitchen for preparation of meals for larger numbers, and this kitchen also houses the washing machine.
A door opens beside the fireplace opens into the East Wing, the first room being the informal dining room, with a small 'breakfast' kitchen on the ground floor of the round tower off it.
