  • Midway between the historic villages of Tournon d'Agenais and Penne d'Agenais is the historic Chateau de Sainte Foy. Guests enjoy two wings of this impressive chateau with spacious quality accommodation, and 10ha of well-managed grounds in the wonderful Quercy countryside.

With its own small chapel, Sainte Foy is also available for weddings, with the choice of either an indoor vaulted hall for around 120 guests or the covered cloisters behind the Chateau which will permit 300 guests to celebrate in the open air. Further details on our Weddings page.

  • Guests have two wings of the Chateau to enjoy - the east and north wings

There are several entrances for guests to use: The large entrances on the north side seen in the aerial images lead into the grand Vaulted Hall, which is available for guests to entertain up to 120 guests. To the left is a large feature fireplace, and to the right steps down lead to a large kitchen for preparation of meals for larger numbers, and this kitchen also houses the washing machine.

A door opens beside the fireplace opens into the East Wing, the first room being the informal dining room, with a small 'breakfast' kitchen on the ground floor of the round tower off it.

A door leads to the main staircase, and at the ground floor level, there is a Shower room with WC and basin.

A further door leads into the formal dining room, which offers 2 dining tables for up to 20 people to dine in comfort with a large working fireplace for heat and atmosphere.

Two doors lead off the far end of the Dining room - One to the comfortable and spacious Sitting room with television and comfortable seating, and the other to a few steps that lead down into the small library room where guests can read quietly and also browse a selection of information about the area.

All the bedrooms are on the first floor: From the top of the main stairs, doors open into the Main Master suite, which has a spacious en suite bathroom up a few steps. An interconnecting door leads to a smaller double/twin bedroom, although this bedroom also has its own small staircase up from the Sitting Room if required (see floorplan). The bathroom for the smaller bedroom is up a few steps.

Back at the top of the staircase, a door opens into the third spacious bedroom which has its bathroom in the upper storey of the circular tower.

The other two bedrooms are accessed by the gallery overlooking the inner courtyard, with the galley making an excellent place to take sun and shade as you wish during the day.

Both are spacious double bedrooms with bathrooms. There is also a small room for storage of linen, cases and other items as guests require.

Several of the bedrooms have both double and single beds, which offers flexibility between double and twin rooms.

All baths have shower attachments over.

Television is available in the Sitting Room

Please note that the West Wing of the Chateau is private to the Owners, as is the inner courtyard.

  • There is ample parking for several cars outside the East Wing.

Chateau de Sainte Foy extends to 10ha (25 acres) of carefully managed parkland with mature trees and shrubs throughout.

By the main gate to the Chateau is the small private chapel belonging to the Chateau where marriages and other ceremonies may take place, making the Chateau ideal for family occasions of all kinds.

Benches and tables are placed throughout the grounds to offer several different settings for al fresco dining with a barbecue available

The Chateau has its own orchard with cherry, apple and pear trees which adjoins the lake seen in the aerial pictures: Guests are free to wander around the property and enjoy the space and tranquillity of the Quercy countryside at its finest. The views to the east towards Tournon d'Agenais, to the west over Valeilles and especially to the north to the picturesque village of Cazideroques (pictured)  are a delightful bonus.

  • Chateau de Sainte Foy is just off an old Roman road linking Tournon' d'Agenais and Villeneuve Sur Lot, where the Romans established a river crossing: The first town you come to is Penne d'Agenais, where Richard I of England (The Lionheart) is known to have built defences - his mother, Eleanor of Aquitaine lived in the area.

There are many other historic villages nearby all with their own distinct character. These include Lauzerte and Pujols, both listed among 'Les Plus Beaux Villages de France'. Many are hilltop village offering spectacular views over the countryside of the Quercy and Périgord areas.

The production of quality food and wine is a major industry in the area, besides general agricultural cereal crops, Guests will see nut groves, fields of melons and vegetables as well as quality livestock. A short distance from Chateau de Sainte Foy spilling over the hills overlooking the River Lot is one of the major parts of the Cahors AOC wine-producing areas, with many wineries open for tasting and tours:  Tastings at the Chateau can also be organised with notice.

Many villages and towns have weekly markets, with at least one market nearby every day of the week. Evening markets - 'Marchés nocturne' are great social events, with a great variety of meals available for you to enjoy.

The River Lot is one of the major waterways in this part of France and offers plenty of activities with a canoe, kayak and boat hire, boat trips, fishing trips and more all available to guests. For a beach experience, there is a 'base de Loisir' at Montaigu de Quercy offering lifeguard patrolled swimming, pedalo and boat hire, restaurants, bars and more.

Local restaurants are plentiful, and there will be information at the Chateau for you to choose from, however, booking is always recommended as many are small restaurants offering high-quality food with much attention to detail.

For art and garden lovers, a short drive to the water gardens of Latour-Marliac, near Temple Sur Lot which were the inspiration for Monet's water lily paintings. More information HERE

Many guests will also find their way to Moissac to see the ancient Abbey and Cloisters which are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Miles of quiet country roads offer great possibilities for cycle expedition, and likewise, there are numerous well-marked footpaths for those seeking to explore by foot.
