      Maison du Lac is simply the perfect country hideaway for those seeking simple living off the beaten track in South West France - so much so that our MD says she would like to stay there with a good book, and let the world pass by. 

      Sleeping up to 8 people in 4 spacious bedrooms, the house is presented in retro style decor yet with modern kitchen equipment, internet and television.  Swimming is in the lakes, which are also home to perch and carp up to around 10-12 lb, so ideal for the fishermen in the family. 

      Whilst sleeping 8, it also makes a superb retreat for artists, writers.... indeed anyone wanting to step off life's superhighway for a while

      Including the lakes, the whole plot extends to around 2ha (5acres) with a good grassed area for the more energetic to enjoy games.

  • Arrangement of the accommodation is quite traditional, with kitchen, living, dining and utility areas on the Ground Floor, and sleeping accommodation on the first floor. 

    Off the main hall is the spacious KITCHEN with UTILITY ROOM 

    A good gas range is complemented by an oven, microwave, toaster and coffee machines Within the kitchen is a breakfast seating area. 
    The Utility Room, immediately off the Kitchen has a large fridge with freezer compartment and washing machine. 

    Across the hall is the SITTING / DINING ROOM  with a large feature stone fireplace, comfortable seating and a dining table with space to seat 8 . There is television and a music centre, 

    French windows open onto the terrace overlooking the lake. 

    Upstairs are  4 Bedrooms 

     - Master Double with view over the crystal clear smaller lake
     - Double Bedroom with view over the crystal clear smaller lake
     - Double Bedroom with view over the crystal clear smaller lake
     - Twin bedroom with view to the rear. 

    The Family Bathroom has a bath with shower over and basin.  There is also a separate Shower room with basin and wc. 

    The decor throughout transports you back 20 or 30 years, and oak beams and bare white Quercy stone really take you back in time, yet with more modern fixtures and equipment. 

    Central heating makes Maison du Lac an all year round property. 
     - 



  • The large plot, approx 2ha (5 acres) is very natural with tall mature trees surrounding the two lakes. Immediately around the house the grass is managed, but alive with wild flowers and insects. 

    From the house, looking down on the crystal clear lower lake carp can be seen feeding, and frogs are frequently heard along with the ever present birdsong that would be expected in a natural setting such as Maison du Lac. 

    Guests may swim safely in either lake, and may also fish: There are carp and perch up to around 10-12lb in there. 

    A barbecue and outdoor furniture is provided for Guests to enjoy outdoor living at its finest. 

    An area of open grass is kept towards the rear of the property to allow space for recreation.  

  • If Guests at Maison du Lac do wish to return to the world outside, there are three small towns equidistant at about 5km: 

    Bourg de Visa has shops for basic needs, pharmacy and a bank. Market day is Sunday
    Roquecor has a couple of good restairants, and a Sunday market. 
    Montaigu de Quercy has the nearest supermarket, with all other businesses available. Market day here is Saturday. 

    Further afield are the attractive towns of  Lauzerte and Montcuq with a good variety of shops, and around 15km away are the towns of Agen and Valence d'Agen, both along the Garonne valley with 'toutes commerces' available. 

    Suggested days out: 

     -  The Garonne Canal has a level cycle path, with a number of bicycle rental outlets along the way

    - Moissac - The UNESCO World Heritage site of the Cloisters and Abbé de St Pierre

    - Montauban - Noted for the rose coloured brickwork around La Place Nationale


      

    To the north is the River Lot, and beyond that the chestnut covered hills and a number of castles including Biron and Bonaguil pictured above. 

    Follow the River Lot to the east and you arrive at the main town on the Lot, Cahors, with the famous Pont Valente across the river, and further to the east again are found the prehistoric cave sytem of Pech Merle and the spectacular sight of the clifftop village of St Cirq La Popie.

  • Booking notes

    Linen & Towels -  Bed linen and Towels are included in the price of your booking.  Pool towels and baby linen are not included unless otherwise stated. 

    Arrival & Departure - Guest are requested not to arrive before 16h00 on the day of arrival, and to depart by 10h00 on the day of departure.   Bookings in July and August will run from SATURDAY TO SATURDAY. 

    Cleaning -  Guests are requested to leave the property in the same state of cleanliness as it was found, and to co-operate with any departure requests from the Managers. 

    Security Deposit -  A Security Deposit of £500 will be added to your invoice.  This will normally be repaid during the week after your booking ends.  

    Prices - Using the drop down at the top right of the Calendar, prices can be displayed in £GBP . €EUR or $USD. For other currencies please request confirmation from HL.  Click on Arrival and Departure dates to see prices 

    Payments - Payments can be by Bank Transfer or Credit Card.  Customers paying by card on UK £GBP accounts can also pay by Debit card.  HL Holidays reserve the right to charge a supplement for payment by cheque. 

    View the rates - Hover over, or tap, the arrival date and if available the rate for that week will pop up.  

    Please note that there is an age restriction of 10 years for guests at Maison du Lac. 

    How To Book

    Click on the start date of your holiday, then on the departure date of your holiday. you will then see a pop-up box with the chosen dates and availability. The rate will show if the dates are availabe. 
    Click the  "BOOK NOW"  button which will show the provisional booking form to fill out. Enter your details, payment methods and any extra services required then click the continue button at the bottom.
    You will then be shown a payment summary but you will not be asked to make any payment online

    Payment - Payment can be made by any of the following methods in £GBP or €EUR.

How to make a provisional booking.
