La Tuque

In a quiet country position with no near neighbours, La Tuque offers accommodation for couples, families and groups of up to 6 people in 3 bedrooms.  The property is well equipped for outdoor living and enjoys a heatable pool, exclusive to Guests. 

The south facing suntrap site enjoys delightful countryside views, and being just over a mile (2km) from the character country town of Montcuq has easy access to all services that Guests are likely to require. Lauzerte, a historic hill town is about 10km away.

The open plan Ground Floor has the Dining Area  a well equipped Kitchen and a spacious Sitting Area 

The Kitchen has a gas hob and electric oven, microwave, dishwasher and a good range of utensils and appliances. 

The Sitting Room which opens onto the terrace has the Sky TV with English channels.

The Dining Room has a  large table and 6 chairs. Stairs lead to the first floor. 

Also off the Dining room is a Utility Room & Store with Washing machine and cleaning appliances. A door from the Utility Room leads to the back garden. 

A few steps down from the Dining room lead to a ground floor Double Bedroom, and a separate Shower room with wc and basin

At the top of the stairs, on the north east side of the house, is a Lounge area which will stay reasonably cool on the hottest days.  

A Twin bedroom is on this level,. and also the Master Double Bedroom with sleigh bed, Juliet balcony and spectacular views over the pool away to the hills between Montcuq and Lauzerte. 

A Bathroom, with bath and shower over, basin and wc completes this floor. 

At 2023 broadband connection speed is around 5mbps which would be adequate for email. social media etc but higher speed requirement applications may encounter issues. 

There is parking off the road and shaded by trees and shrubs for two cars. 

A feature of La Tuque is the selection of outdoor situations for Guests, supported by a very good selection of outdoor furniture. 

Immediately outside the Siting Room and Dining Room is the raised terrace, part of which is covered. 
Under the covered section large comfortable outdoor furniture offer shady sitting and comfortable evening lounging. 

A table and chairs on the open section of the raised terrace is a breakfast time suntrap, with the boulangerie of Montcuq only a couple of minutes away it is sure you will be enjoying warm croissants and fresh coffee there at some point in your stay. 
Steps down lead to the large terrace including the Pool. 

Measuring 3.5 x 4m, and with integral steps and hard cover, the pool can be heated (at cost) A salt purification system gives Guests a very clean feeling after swimming.  

With a good selection of sun loungers, table and chairs and a charcoal barbeque  La Tuque invites you to live and lounge outdoors. 

A good garden area includes an area of lawn for ball games, and there are swings there for the young. In the garden at the rear of the property is a stout oak tree with a rope swing for the young to enjoy. 

La Tuque is on the heart of the 'Quercy Blanc' - an ancient area steeped in history. 

Montcuq (2km) has all every day services Guests are likely to need, and a Sunday market which starts off nearly all in French, but as the strong expat presence in the area come in to town the percentage of English voices grows rapidly as the morning goes on.  Sunday lunchtime sees the bars and restaurants busy with diners while between the streets under the trees the locals meet to play boules, chess and cards. 
Montcuq also has a castle in the centre of town, and the view from the castle is not to be missed. 

Lauzerte (10km) is an ancient hill town with a noted square, and views from the ramparts around the countryside. In summer weekly evening markets are held and the square is laid out with tables and benches - just bring cutlery and a glass, and try some of delightful local dishes prepared there around the square to the accompaniment of music and usually dancing. 

Further to the west is the vale of the river Garonne, and the towns of Moissac and Montauban. Moissac is a well known destination with the major attraction of the Abbé and Cloisters of St Pierre being a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 
Montauban is noted for its rose coloured brickwork, in particular round the main square La Place National which has been renovated in recent years. 



From Montauban the major centre of Toulouse is only about 30 minutes away 

To the north of Montcuq is the regional centre at Cahors which is on the river Lot. Famous for its Roman bridge over the river, the Pont Valente, it is also on the St Jacques de Compstela pilgrim route (GR65) which runs through Montcuq and Lauzerte giving Guests at La Tuque ample opportunity to explore on foot. 

To the east of Cahors the gorge of the river Lot makes a spectacular day out, with the village of St Cirq La Popie perched high above the river a favourite visit, and the nearby caves of Pech Merle are also a popular attraction. 

The river Lot offers plenty of opportunities for kayaking, boat trips and also there is a cycle path along the river with several points for bike hire to explore on two wheels.
