Capdret is a barn conversion, recently refreshed and renovated by the Owners. It offers good standard accommodation for a small family or a couple with a private garden area and access to the pool in the Owner's garden. Capdret stands alone in open countryside on a south facing slope.
Ideally located for exploring the River Garonne and the rolling countryside of Tarn et Garonne, the historic town of Moissac is close by, and the regional centre of Montauban is about 40 minutes away by car.
The character accommodation is ideal for a '2+2' family or a couple seeking a break in a peaceful country location. Available all the year round, Capdret will also be a great base for those seeking longer term accommodation.
Converted from a traditional barn, the original wooden cattle standings have been lovingly restored, and make a wonderful traditional feature.
The 105 sq m accommodation is all at ground level with minimal steps.
The well equipped Kitchen/Diner features a gas hob, an electric combi-oven, microwave, slow cooker, fridge and separate freezer. There is a good range of utensils.
A dining table and chairs.
There are two bedrooms:
- Double bedroom
- Twin bedroom
Each bedroom has hanging and storage space.
The spacious main Family bathroom has a Bath with shower over, basin and wc.
There is a second wc with basin in the Utility Room which also houses the washing machine.
The Sitting Room has a large sofa and two armchairs.
Television is available with either Sky or Orange packages installed.
There is a CD player with CDs, and a DVD player with DVDs and a VHS Video player and some videos.
A selection of board games and toys along with a large collection of books mean that all members of the family should be kept entertained.
Capdret sits in an isolated location on a south facing slope with no other houses within several hundred metres.
Outdoor furniture is available for Guests to use, and there is poolside furniture including table, sun loungers and parasols available.
The Owners make their substantial 10 x 5m pool available to Guests to use as they wish: The Owners are an active retired couple with no resident family.
They are also devoted dog lovers. and their dogs are in a secure enclosure in a small part of the garden by day. It is thus not possible for Guest pets to be accommodated at Capdret.
The garden has a large collection of shrubs and trees with shady private areas to explore and hide in, all well managed by the Owners.
A footpath (chemin) runs close to the property so Guests can explore the rolling fields near to the property.
The beautiful rolling countryside of Tarn-et-Garonne is all around Capdret, with the rich ever changing tapestry of fields linking to areas of woodland and orchards all around.
Character villages such as Montjoi and Castelsagrat are close by, and larger towns such as Moissac and Valence d'Agen are within 30 mins drive.
A feature of this area is the rich variety of food and drink available. There will be information available at the property on restaurants and other places to eat, as well as the local markets which are great places to get the freshest food direct from producers. Visitors in July and August are also encouraged to visit the Night Markets, where there are a selection of vendors of freshly cooked dishes, and tables are set up so all you need to bring are a knife and fork. For simple fare, try the local Toulouse sausages with Aligot.
Moissac, less than 30 minutes away is at the meeting of the Tarn and Garonne rivers and is also home to the UNESCO World Heritage site of L'Abbaye de St Pierre.
The Garonne canal runs through the town, and there is an excellent level cycle path beside it that runs between Bordeaux and the Mediterranean - although you will probably only do part of it! Bicycles can be hired locally. Of course, if you prefer the more testing rolling country around Capdret bicycles and e-bikes can be hired more locally, and delivery may be possible. One bicycle hire we can recommend is Café Velo, right on the canal, at Agen. It is right by a large stone built aqueduct and was the old pumping station for the canal - worth a visit for historic reasons alone!
For larger town and city experiences, the regional capitals of Montauban and Cahors can be easily reached, or trains run along the Garonne valley line between Bordeaux and Toulouse. major commercial centres of France known mainly for wine and aerospace respectively.
