Sleeping 6 people in 3 bedrooms, it offers groups of all sizes a great base to explore the beauty of the Lot valley, with limestone cliffs, caves and spectacular scenery within easy reach.  The river also hosts a variety of activities, with a cycle path, canoe and boat hire, climbing, swimming and more.  Bike and canoe hire is available locally.

Shopping is limited in St Martin Labouval, but there are some small  shops and a 'depot de pain' in Tour de Faure (3km)  and Cénevières (2km)  For larger shops and a good selection of restaurants , the attractive towns of Limogne en Quercy and Cajarc are about 10 km away.  For winter visitors. the weekly truffle market at Limogne is a not to be missed attraction.

The closest airports are Rodez or Brive/Souillac - Approx 90 km, or Toulouse and Bergerac - both approx 140km

  • Outdoor space is limited to the off street courtyard, with a large covered veranda with retractable awning adjacent to the front door.

This south facing space gets the afternoon sun, and with the retractable awning is an ideal outdoor escape from the heat and sun

  • St Martin Labouval is a sleepy village on the banks of the River Lot about 4km upstream from the spectacular cliff village of St Cirq Lapopie, one of the 'must see' attractions in the area.  On your way there you will pass Tour de Faure where there are a few shops and restaurants, mainly catering for the visitors to St Cirq La Popie.
Cajarc to the east or Limogne-en-Quercy, both about 15km, are the nearest supermarket and 'toutes commerces' towns for all your needs. Cajarc had a dammed section of the river which is good for water based activities including boating and swimming. There is also a good selection of shops, restaurants and other interesting outlets

The rugged limestone countryside hides a myriad of things to do, with canoeing, boating and fishing on the river, on and off road cycling in a variety of terrains along with other activities.

Anyone interested in archaeology will be in for a feast, with many large dolmen and other settlement features to be found in the area, and the internationally known prehistoric cave site of Pech Merle  is only 20 minutes away by car where genuine cave paintings and a host of other artefacts can be seen during a visit.  The troglodyte cave dwellings of La Toulzanie (pictured below) are only a couple of kilometres from St Martin Labouval.

For more features of this fascinating area, please see the Cahors / Vallée du Lot website (in English) which will help you plan your stay

Being in a dark sky area with minimal artificial light, a clear night can be a stargazer's dream, and on top of the hill to the north of St Martin Labouval is a stargazer's aid to help you identify the night stars.

Markets are always a feature of French rural life, and every town and village nearby will hold a market at least once a week. If you are visiting in the early months of the year, Limogne-en-Quercy and Lalbenque to the south both have weekly truffle markets which are unique with truffle hunters selling their prized produce.

Cahors, around 40 km away, is the regional capital with a rich and long history as a major crossing point of the river Lot. The historic Pont Valente is an ancient bridge, which for centuries has welcomed pilgrims walking the St Jacques de Compstela route.
