Haute Caussine is a 17th Century farmhouse renovated to a high standard which overlooks one of the finest views in the Quercy countryside near Fauroux. Extremely secluded and private - this is the place to be if you like to escape, and demand is high.
The unspoiled countryside and the absence of any large roads nearby offers guests the chance to enjoy quality relaxation in the French countryside with plenty of space to relax by the pool, or plenty of nearby roads and attractions to explore with Lauzerte, Montaigu de Quercy and Bourg de Visa all a short distance away.
Haute Caussine is an ideal place for a large group or family to enjoy an active holiday together.
-
Arriving at Haute Caussine, you drive into a shaded dedicated parking area behind the house.
Entering the house at the lowest level, you are in the kitchen with a very modern run of fitted units with a hob and sink the only things visible. Hidden in the cupboards are an oven, microwave and dishwasher. This contrasts with ancient wooden beams, an original tiled floor and a fireplace.
A good range of utensils and appliances are included. In the corner by the door is a large American style Fridge/Freezer unit with ample storage for most families. A small dining table for less formal dining completes the kitchen furniture.
Through a door is the Dining Room / Sitting room with a dining table and seating for 8, along with bright soft seating for a good number of people. The television and internet facility is also in this room. Double doors open onto the outside terrace.
A door opens onto some steps up to a Utility /Shower room by the Back door with a Washing machine and laundry equipment as well as a dedicated wine fridge.
The quality oak staircase rises up to the First floor where you will find the carefully designed Master Bedroom with a high-quality ensuite bathroom with a separate shower and WC. The double bed is 4 poster with full net curtains, and there is also a delightful white wicker chaise longue on the boldly coloured tiled floor. With plenty of space, baby equipment and beds are kept at the far end of the room.
The stairs go on up again to the Loft bedroom with exposed beams: This large bedroom has a double bedroom and two single beds, so are best described as a family room. Beyond it is another quality bathroom with a bath and WC.
There are a number of barns on the site at Haute Caussine, and there are three more double bedrooms that have been created in them. The nearest one to the house is close to the Back Door of the House and uses the Shower Room in the Utility area, and the other two rooms, adjacent to one another, have their own bathroom in the same building.
-
The Kitchen and Sitting room doors open onto a broad terrace, currently grassed, which has a sheeted pergola for shade, and a table and chairs for outdoor dining. A charcoal barbecue is provided.
The barn houses a table tennis table to give activity in the shade.
From the terrace is a spectacular view to the village of Fauroux and further west down the Séoune valley described by many as one of the finest views in the Quercy region.
A grassed slope leads down to the south facing Pool Terrace where the 10 x 4m private pool is located. Poolside furniture is provided for guests to enjoy the pool and the spectacular view (one of the finest in the area)
For spring and autumn swimming the pool can be heated (additional cost)
The large grassed area beyond is mown reasonably often to allow space for games, and there is also a tree providing a shaded refuge from the sun. Woodland on either side of the house is there to be explored. and make a great fantasy setting for imaginative young minds.
The road to Haute Caussine is very quiet, and there are woodland walks or cycle rides along miles of quiet roads through the countryside.

All Halcyon Leisure properties are in and around the finest food and drink producers in the area, and as you travel around besides the usual cereal and sunflower crops in the fields you are likely to see a wide range of soft fruit, melons, hazelnuts, walnuts and vegetables being grown, all of which can be purchased at local markets direct from the producers at the local markets.
Markets are held somewhere locally every day of the week, and there is information on this site under The Area, or at the property: Particularly good local markets are at Prayssac on Friday, Montaigu de Quercy on Saturday and Montcuq on Sunday. During the summer months there are also some evening gourmand markets with many different dishes available - simply turn up and buy your picnic and eat it al fresco listening to the music or other entertainment at these pleasant friendly events.
To the north, especially on the south side of the River Lot, near Cahors is the centre of the Cahors AOC wine production area: Many of the producers are open for tasting and on-site purchase of their wines, or there are companies that will bring a selection of wines to the house for you to try: Even the visits to the impressive houses, manoirs and chateaux where the wine is produced can be enough for many.
Restaurants abound, with most preferring to use locally served ingredients, and it is quite common to select top quality table wines produced within a few miles of a restaurant to accompany a meal: A list of restaurants is with the Area information above.
The area abounds in both history and natural history: A few miles to the east is the Causse de Quercy national park, with the limestone rock offering the mighty Aveyron Gorge, and cave systems in the Cahors area: There are many very interesting and beautiful hilltop villages, Lauzerte being the nearest, and further afield Pujols, St Cirq La Popie and Rocamadour being the most favoured.
A short drive away is Moissac, with the UNESCO World Heritage site at its Abbey and Cloisters well worth a visit, and from there the picturesque town of Montauban with its rose-coloured brickwork or the Canal de Garonne make a very pleasant day out.Wherever you go there will always be some wildlife of interest, be it insect, animal or plant, and bird spotters in particular early and late in the season will see several migratory species travelling to or from their summer destinations.
If you would like a day at the beach, there are 'Base de Loisirs' - Leisure lakes - at both Montcuq and Montaigu de Quercy with sandy beach areas, lifeguard patrolled swimming and picnic areas: There are usually boats or pedalos for hire in the safe waters, and other leisure features available.
The nearest large city is Toulouse, about 80km by road away. The renowned aerospace industry has many attractions, and the city is noted for its restaurants and food. Bordeaux, a little further away, is an international centre of the wine trade, and both towns have a very rich history with historic buildings and museums to visit.
