Details

  • Spacious retreat near the river Dordogne just 30 mins from Bergerac airport

Recently renovated to a high standard, Port Dordogne offers good quality family and group accommodation . It is available for MINIMUM 2 NIGHT STAYS between September and June, making it an ideal autumn or spring getaway.

Being just 30 minutes from Bergerac airport, or about 90 mins from Bordeaux airport, and with Brive-Le Gaillard also within easy distance, it is an ideal location for a long weekend getaway or half term escape.  There is also a SNCF station approx 600m from the house, on the Libourne to Sarlat line, and there are 6 trains daily.

Featuring a large former tobacco barn converted for outdoor living with a 10x5m pool exclusive to guests and a sauna and hot tub, there is also a very good selection of activity equipment including bicycles and a kayak for guests to enjoy.

  • Port Dordogne is in a tiny hamlet a short walk from the banks of the River Dordogne.

There is ample off road parking for at least 4 cars, and the property is fenced and gated for your security.

The excellent kitchen includes a 5 burner range and double oven, and there are two fridges, including a large American style fridge, dishwasher and microwave.

A spacious Dining / Sitting room allows plenty of space for relaxing, and a Satellite TV system with Prime and Netflix available will provide entertainment.

Sleeping accommodation is spread throughout the house with 6 bedrooms altogether sleeping up to 14 people.
     - Adjacent to the kitchen on the ground floor is a spacious double bedroom with a large sofa and adjacent shower room
     - Accessed by stairs from the kitchen are two double bedrooms, one of which also has a single bed in it.
     - Accessed by stairs from the Sitting room are three bedrooms:  One double room, One room that can be made up as a twin or a double bedroom, and a further double room with a single bunk bed over.  This has an adjacent large bathroom with bath and shower.

There is a further shower room in the hall between the kitchen and dining area.

A cot and high chair are available on the premises.

  • Superbly set up for outdoor living, Port Dordogne has a level site of around 5000 sq m (1 acre)  with the main feature being the former tobacco drying barn which has been opened up to provide a large au vent sheltered space with the 10 x 5m pool immediately beside.

With a southerly aspect, the house and barn have several outdoor areas that will be in partial or full shade at some stage of the day, so Guests can choose their level of comfort as they wish

A large built in charcoal barbecue is available between the house and the barn, and the barn has a large table and plenty of seating for all to enjoy al fresco dining.

    Games equipment includes:
     - 7 Bicycles ( 6 Adults and 1 Child)
     - Table tennis, Darts, Boules, Badminton and a Football goal
     - Kayak ( The river Dordogne is about 400m from the house along a path)

Installed in time for the 2022 season, and offering out of season outdoor opportunities are a hot tub and sauna complete with outdoor shower for the true Nordic experience!

  • As the name suggests, Port Dordogne is right by the river, and the area around is level with plenty of quiet country roads to explore on two or four wheels.

The attractive town of Trémolat is nearby, its quiet streets line with houses of the local honey coloured stone and the typical Périgourdine rooves. There is a couple of restaurants and a weekly market on Tuesdays. There is also a boulangerie, offering the freshest of bread daily

Trémolat also has a watersports centre on the riverside with further bars and restaurants, and there may be activities in which guests may be able to participate.
A little beyond the town is Le Cingle de Trémolat, a viewpoint over the area and away to the rolling Quercy countryside to the south: On a peaceful day the sounds of the famed Dordogne swans exercising their wings will be heard.

The whole of the Dordogne and Périgord is dotted with attractive honey colored stone villages with their distinctive Périgourdine rooves, and Port Dordogne is mid way between Bergerac and Sarlat which both have significant charm and lots going on.
From Sarlat, the hilltop town of Domme is a visitor attraction, largely for its superb view over the vale of Dordogne and away to the hills of the northern Périgord region. As you travel round you will doubtless find your favourite towns and villages.

This area of France is a gourmand's paradise, with quality wine production throughout the area, particularly around Bergerac, and a host of other produce is available from local producers at weekly markets. Sarlat hosts an annual Truffle festival during the winter months with days of demonstrations, tasting and more.

With Port Dordogne offering 'Le Grand Weekend' breaks with a minimum of 2 days, a gastronaut group will surely have a weekend to remember here.
