Pool Exclusive
Let together, Maison de Ferme and Chez Nous offer large parties quality spacious accommodation near Valeilles on the border of the départements of Lot-et-Garonne and Tarn-et-Garonne.
Facilities in the two houses include exclusive use of a 9 x 4m swimming pool with adjacent sun terrace, two kitchens and seven bedrooms, five of which have ensuite bath or shower rooms.
Imaginatively and practically restored by the Owners, John and Anna Perry, the two houses have all modern amenities amidst carefully preserved and enhanced character features.
This 18th Century stone farmhouse sleeps 10+ and has been carefully restored to a high standard, while at the same time keeping a cool and spacious farmhouse atmosphere. At 250 square metres, the house has plenty of room for you to spread out!
With lots of space and country feel, a large kitchen and living area, private enclosed garden with 9 by 4 metre swimming pool and fantastic views, this white stone farmhouse and annexe have all the makings of a wonderful holiday.
French doors lead out from the farmhouse to the paved terrace with table, chairs, parasols, barbecue and lighting for long, warm evenings outside. A small pebbled garden has steps leading down to the 9 x 4 metre salt water swimming pool (which is maintained by the Owners) with motion alarm and additional loungers and parasols. The whole area can be totally enclosed giving safety and freedom for your youngsters.
This pool is exclusively for use of guests staying in Maison de Ferme: There is a separate swimming pool well away from Maison de Ferme for guests in our other gites.
Maison de Ferme has internet, TV, and table tennis and boules for the more energetic.
For larger parties, the adjacent annexe Chez Nous can be added, allowing parties of up to 16 people to stay together: Chez Nous is completely self-contained. and ideal for a separate family or relatives who wish to enjoy their own space. When letting as an annexe, guests will have acess to the exclusive pool of Maison de Ferme.
Chez Nous was originally the Owner's accommodation, and offers spacious accommodation for up to 6 people in 2 spacious bedrooms, one a double room with sofabed and the other a twin room. A well-equipped kitchen with a large sitting/dining room gives guests plenty of indoor space.
Outdoors there is a large south-facing sun terrace with wisteria and vine-clad arbour for shade.
Glazed doors from the Kitchen/Dining room lead out onto the paved and gravelled sun terrace with table and chairs, sun loungers and shades.
Along with a charcoal barbecue, proximity to the Kitchen makes this an ideal al fresco dining area at all times of the day.
The poolside is accessed by a gate in the fenced surround. The 9 x 4m saltwater pool is for the exclusive use of Guests at Maison de Ferme.
A small grassed area beyond the pool is also available for guests to enjoy.
Vieux Mirou is just off a road that runs between Penne d'Agenais and Montaigu de Quercy: Heading for Penne d'Agenais takes you to the banks of the River Lot and all the activities on the river such as fishing, canoeing and boat hire: Heading towards Montaigu de Quercy takes you into the heart of the rolling countryside of the Quercy with a very large range of crops and vegetables growing, alongside sunflowers, cereals and vines.
Much of the produce can be bought at markets, and there are lists of the local markets on the Area information at the top of this page, along with other restaurant recommendations and wineries. The area to the east of Penne d'Agenais and along the River Lot is the heartland of the Cahors AOC with a large number of wineries offering tastings and direct sales of the delicious red and white wines.
For something curious, head across the river at Penne d'Agenais to find La Stelsia, a colourful park where you can freely wander around the manicured parkland, and enjoy excellent food and drink in the restaurants if you wish: If you fancy a testing crazy golf course, this is the place to go!
Heading to the north on the other side of the river you will find a number of castles: Biron and Bonaguil are the most complete, and both open to visitors, and you will find other ruins as you travel.
This is the country of bastide villages - fortified hilltop villages, and within easy reach of Vieux Mirou you can wander the streets of Pujols. Lauzerte, Montaigu de Quercy, Tournon d'Agenais, Monflanquin and Villereal and marvel at the medieval timbered buildings that still survive today.
Historic Cahors is the gateway to cave country, and guests can visit a number of caves in the limestone area including Pech Merle, and a little futher away the world famous Lascaux cave paintings.
