  • The Vieux Mirou Gites, Chez Ami and Chez Papi, are neighbouring gites sleeping a total of 9 people to which other units sleeping 10 and 6 could be added. 

    The gites are in barns, carefully converted by the Owners, John and Anna Perry, and retain many character features but also provide good standard modern family accommodation

    Situated near Valeilles on the border of the départments of Tarn-et-Garonne and Lot-et-Garonne, Vieux Mirou is well placed for visitors to explore the beautiful and historic area of the two départements, with a plethora of foods and wines produced in the area, and historic villages and castles within easy distance.

    Chez Ami and Chez Papi share a terrace immediately outside the door with outdoor furniture and sunshades. The wisteria cladded walls contrast with well-kept roses and other shrubs and flowers, making a very pleasant east-facing place to enjoy the start to the day, which becomes shaded during the heat of the afternoon.

    As can be seen from the pictures, a few steps away is a large pool terrace.

    It is also possible to add 61VCN Chez Nous, the third gite at Vieux Mirou into an accommodation package for up to 15 guests and 62VMF Maison de Ferme, and make an extended package for 25 people including 2 pools!

  • Gite Chez Ami - Sleeps 5 people.

    Entering Chez Ami from the sun terrace immediately outside the door, you will be in the open plan living area, which combines Kitchen, Dining and Sitting rooms all into one.

    An L-shaped run of wall and floor units is completed by a cooker with an oven and a fridge with a freezer compartment. There is also a microwave oven and a good selection of utensils. The proximity of the kitchen to the door makes this ideal for food preparation for meals to be eaten outdoors.

    A dining table seating 6 and sofa and armchairs complete the furnishings.

    The remainder of the ground floor is taken up with a spacious double bedroom and a separate shower room with a shower, basin and WC.

    Stairs go up from the rear of the living area to a mezzanine landing on which there is a single bed, with curtains and dividers around.

    There is also a sofa on the landing as an extra peaceful sitting area. Bookshelves contain a selection of books, and there are also some games provided.

    Off the landing are an upstairs shower room with a shower, WC and basin.

    The upstairs bedroom has two single beds with a Velux window over.

    Gite Chez Papi - Sleeps 4 people
     Entering Chez Papi from the sun terrace immediately outside the door, you will be in the Sitting and Dining area with armchairs and a dining table seating 4 people.

    The stairs go to the first floor, and the Kitchen has been carefully fitted under the stairs. This comprises a straight run of units including a gas cooker, fridge with freezer compartment and microwave oven. There is also a good selection of utensils.

    Beyond the kitchen is a spacious double bedroom with an en suite shower room including a basin and WC.

    The stairs lead up to a small landing area with comfortable seating.

    The second bedroom is a Twin bedroom (two single beds). 

    This bedroom has an ensuite shower room with a basin and WC.

    Bookshelves contain a selection of books, and there also some games provided.

    Chez Papi is an excellent choice for a family of four wanting a country base for their holiday.

  • Immediately outside both gites is a large paved terrace, complemented with outdoor furniture and sunshades. Delightfully surrounded by wisteria, flowers and shrubs, guests throughout the season will enjoy a floral display.

    A few steps away is the large pool terrace. The pool measures 12m x 8m. The pool has integral steps and is protected with a hardcover. Usage of the pool is primarily for these two gites, although if the third gite on site, Chez Nous, if let on its own, those guests will also have use of this pool.

    A built-in barbecue on the pool terrace makes cooking outdoors simple, and there is plenty of furniture around for a large number of people to sit outside and enjoy al fresco meals.

    The communal washing machine and laundry facilities are housed in the barn adjacent to the parking area.

    The garden extends to about 1ha of landscaped shrubs and trees making it easy for guests to escape to quiet sunny or shady spots as they wish.

    Dausse (3km) has some shops and a boulangerie and some restaurants, including the noted Moulin de Dausse. For supermarket shopping, Montaigu de Quercy or Villeneuve Sur Lot is the nearest.

  • Vieux Mirou is just off a road that runs between Penne d'Agenais and Montaigu de Quercy: Heading for Penne d'Agenais takes you to the banks of the River Lot and all the activities on the river such as fishing, canoeing and boat hire: Heading towards Montaigu de Quercy takes you into the heart of the rolling countryside of the Quercy with a very large range of crops and vegetables growing, alongside sunflowers, cereals and vines.

    Much of the local produce can be bought at markets, and there are lists of the local markets on the Area information at the top of this page, along with other restaurant recommendations and wineries. The area to the east of Penne d'Agenais and along the River Lot is the heartland of the Cahors AOC with a large number of wineries offering tastings and direct sales of the delicious red and white wines.

    For something curious, head across the river at Penne d'Agenais to find La Stelsia, a colourful park where you can freely wander around the manicured parkland, and enjoy excellent food and drink in the restaurants if you wish: If you fancy a testing crazy golf course, this is the place to go!

    Heading to the north on the other side of the river you will find a number of castles: Biron and Bonaguil are the most complete, and both open to visitors, and you will find other ruins as you travel.

    This is the country of bastide villages - fortified hilltop villages, and within easy reach of Vieux Mirou, you can wander the streets of Pujols. Lauzerte, Montaigu de Quercy, Tournon d'Agenais, Monflanquin and Villereal and marvel at the medieval timbered buildings that still survive today.

    Historic Cahors is the gateway to cave country, and guests can visit a number of caves in the limestone area including Pech Merle, and a little further away the world-famous Lascaux cave paintings.

  • Booking notes

    Linen & Towels -  Bed linen and Towels are included in the price of your booking.  Pool towels and baby linen are not included unless otherwise stated. 

    Baby equipment - If not included in your rental, High Chairs, Travel cots and Play pens are available to rent at £GBP20 /week / item: Please indicate these on your Booking Form. 

    Arrival & Departure - Guest are requested not to arrive before 16h00 on the day of arrival, and to depart by 10h00 on the day of departure.   Bookings in July and August will run from SATURDAY TO SATURDAY. 

    Cleaning -  There is no fixed cleaning charge at this property. Guests are requested to leave the property in the same state of cleanliness as it was found, and to co-operate with any departure requests from the Managers. 

    End of Stay cleaning at Vieux Mirou Gites may be available on request: It is at the discretion of the Caretakers/Managers, and must strictly be arranged in advance of your stay. Please contact HL for further information and cost. 

    Security Deposit -  A Security Deposit of £600 will be added to your invoice.  This will normally be repaid during the week after your booking ends.  

    Prices - Using the drop down at the top right of the Calendar, prices can be displayed in £GBP . €EUR or $USD. For other currencies please request confirmation from HL. 

    Payments - Payments can be by Bank Transfer, Credit Card or cheque.  Customers paying by card on UK £GBP accounts can also pay by Debit card.  

    Booking Procedure:  Please submit a Reservation Request Form (blue button 'Book Now' under the Availability Calendar): This will be acknowledged, and we will confirm availability with the Property Managers. 

    Once confirmed, we will request a DEPOSIT, normally 20% of the Tariff, and hold the booking in your name for up to 3 days while payment of the deposit is arranged. 

    The booking is confirmed when the deposit is received, and you will receive an Invoice for the balance plus the Security Deposit and any extra items ordered to be paid no less than 8 weeks before the Arrival date (or immediately if the booking is less than 8 weeks away) 

    When payment of the invoice is received you will receive directions to the property and also access information.
