Standing on its own in around 0.5ha (1 acre), Campagnac is a delightfully peaceful place to spend a holiday. Without near neighbours and with space to relax, Couples and small families can escape from the world. Beyond the gates, the landscape is gently undulating and can be explored by bicycle or on foot.
Terraces on the east and west side of the house offer shade or sun as Guests wish throughout the day, or the pool terrace offers unbroken sun. The garden has an unbroken hedge and is gated, so makes for safe play for young children.
A short drive takes guests to the towns of Lauzerte or Montcuq which both have all services, shopping and restaurants that are likely to be needed day to day. Campagnac lies about 1km off the D953 which runs from Cahors to Valence d'Agen in the Tarn Valley, giving guests excellent access to explore the wider area.

Accommodates 4 people in 2 bedrooms (1 Double, 1 Twin)
Campagnac has strong iron gates, and plenty of parking space within the gates on hard standing for at least two vehicles.
The main entrance is up a flight of stone steps, where there is a small east and south-facing terrace overlooking the Swimming pool. These 'Bolet' terraces are a feature of traditional buildings in the area and make a great place to take breakfast in the morning sun.
The main entrance leads into the compact kitchen area. Kitchen equipment includes a gas hob, microwave oven, coffee machine and a large fridge with a freezer compartment. A good selection of utensils is also available for Guests.
A door leads through to the delightful Dining & Sitting room which is carefully decorated with a mix of interesting traditional items and quality contemporary styled furniture. This room presents a very warm homely ambience and is a delight to relax in.
A Farmhouse style dining table with 6 chairs offers ample dining space, and a double sofa and two armchairs arranged around an interesting wood burning stove in the fireplace offers plenty of easy sitting.
The Television, offering free satellite channels and a DVD player are here, along with some unusual wooden items and other complementary ornaments. Internet is also installed for Guests.
From the Sitting room, an external door opens onto the small Bolet terrace beside the kitchen door.
Stairs lead down from the kitchen area to a small hall area on the Ground floor, off which all rooms lead.
There are two bedrooms: A Twin bedroom, with east-facing French windows, and a double bedroom which has a wardrobe and also doors that open directly onto the garden on the west side.
Both bedrooms have terraces outside.A Shower room with a basin and a separate WC are also off the small hall, and a Utility/Boiler room in which the Washing machine is housed. There are also two large storage cupboards.
Being traditionally built, the thick stone walls in conjunction with the management of the shutters keep the internal temperature well down even in the hottest of weather.
-
Down the steps from the Kitchen terrace is a good-sized terrace on the east of the house which can also be accessed from the Twin bedroom. Patio furniture, suitable for poolside use also, is provided.
The remainder of the garden area is grassed, and with a hedge around offers safe enclosed space for play with some tall trees and shrubs providing shade.
A charcoal barbecue is provided for open-air cooking.
The Swimming pool has a secure fence surrounding the sun terrace, and the 8 x 4m pool has integral steps, and water purity maintained with Chlorine. (note - the metal ladder shown in some pictures has been replaced)

The countryside around Campagnac is quiet, and gently rolling, and safe to explore on foot or by bicycle. The fields grow a range of crops, predominantly sunflowers and cereals, but vineyards, soft fruit orchards, vegetables and nut groves will also be seen.
Many of the vineyards are attached to wineries that are open for tasting and direct sales of the fine Cahors wines: Some are listed under 'The Area' above, and more will be found in the various sites linked to in 'Links'. This and other fresh produce of the area is available from artisan producers at the weekly markets held in the larger villages and towns, the days for which can also be found in The Area information above.
The area is rich in history with every village and town having historical features: Lauzerte, the nearest sizeable village, is a medieval hilltop village and is listed among 'Les Plus Beaux Villages de France' with timbered houses along narrow medieval streets leading to a central square: The villages are usually fortified, and a walk along the battlements offers superb views across the countryside.
Other notable bastide villages in the area include Montaigu de Quercy and Montcuq, where there is a lively British expatriate community.
The nearest main town, Cahors, sits on the River Lot and has the famous Pont Valentre among other medieval and Roman histories within its bounds. Upstream to the east is another of 'Les Plus Beaux Villages', St Cirq Lapopie which is worth a visit.
Travelling down the D953 to the Tarn valley will get guests to Montauban, Moissac and Agen, the regional capital: All have historical interest.
Montaigu de Quercy has a water park, with a large sandy beach, lifeguard patrolled safe swimming, and boat and pedalo hire. There are also bars and restaurants, offering a complete family day out. Other attractions aimed at younger visitors are listed in The Area menu above.
