    The spacious house sleeps up to six people, and with an exclusive 11 x 5m heated pool, offers a space to rest and recharge in the beautiful Quercy countryside.

    Located within a couple of minutes of the D656, travel to the larger towns of Villeneuve Sur Lot and Cahors is easy along the almost straight former Roman road, or there are many charming villages to explore in the area, with a good selection of shops and restaurants at Tournon d'Agenais, Montaigu de Quercy and Montcuq.

  • The front view of Clavel includes the central imposing pigeonnier tower, and entering the main front door you feel the character of the house draw you in as you walk
    into the main hall.

    The traditional construction, which has largely been preserved, protects from the hottest of days in the summer and protects from the cold on cooler days. Several original features remain,
    including magnificent chestnut ceiling beams.

    The well equipped modern style kitchen has a gas hob and electric oven with extractor over. A magnificent large American style fridge freezer fills one corner of the room.
    Other equipment includes a microwave, dishwasher, coffee machine, toaster, mixer and a double sink.

    The original cattle barriers remain in place to separate the kitchen from the dining area which has a large wooden table with 6 chairs.

    A large sitting room has an open fireplace and ample comfortable seating. Sky satellite television is connected offering a good range of English channels. Wi-Fi at Clavel has been upgraded to Direct Fibre.

    Off the sitting room is a double bedroom with ensuite shower room with WC. This bedroom has a large television and music centre, and doors open out onto the terrace and garden beyond.

    Off the main hall, steps lead down to a small shower room with WC.

    Stairs up from the sitting room lead to the second bedroom on a Mezzanine: It has a double bed and a sofa bed, so can be either double or twin as required. There is also an ensuite WC and basin.

    The third bedroom, a double room, is upstairs in the Pigeonnier.

    A utility area in the garage has a washing machine and dryer.

  • Outside there is a large garden extending to around 0.5ha which is level and suitable for outdoor games.

    The main feature is a heated swimming pool 11m x 5m with ladder steps and an electric cover. Surrounding the pool is a terrace area with sun loungers and outdoor sofas. A gas BBQ is available in the alfresco dining area by the terrace.

    Please note that pool heating is inclusive in your rental of Clavel. 

  • Situated within a couple of minutes of the road from Villeneuve Sur Lot to Cahors gives easy access to these towns and the many delightful towns and villages between.
    Approximately 10 km to the south is the busy small town of Montaigu de Quercy with supermarket, bank and other everyday facilities, or around the same distance to the north at Montayral is a LeClerc hypermarket for absolutely everything!

    Within walking distance is Chateau d'Aix, an active wine-producing vineyard on the edge of the Cahors AOC wine-producing area: Within 10 km to the north are dozens more. Many are open for tastings and direct purchase, and there are links and Listings to a number of these in The Area and Links information above.
    Chateau d'Aix runs a weekly evening market in summer with music and entertainment as well as ready-cooked meals for you to enjoy.

    The area around Saux contains a delightful rolling landscape with many superb views: traffic is generally light, and walking and cycling are popular pastimes. It is principally agricultural and horticultural, with acres of sunflowers and cereals, and also a large range of fruit and vegetables being produced, which will be seen as the area is explored: Many of these will be supplied to the restaurants in the area, and they will also be available at the markets which are held in towns every day of the week: The main markets are Montaigu de Quercy on Saturday, Prayssac on Friday or Montcuq on Sunday.     Medieval bastide villages, many built on hilltops, are dotted throughout the area and make very interesting visits with tremendous views from the fortifications. Much medieval character is retained with narrow streets lined with timbered buildings throughout, usually leading to a large square with town halls and churches around them. Roquecor, Lauzerte, Beauville and Tournon d'Agenais all have their own individual character and are interesting to visit.

    To the north of the River Lot are two large medieval Chateaux, Chateau de Bonagul and Chateau Biron with commanding countryside views which make very good day trips into the spectacular countryside.

    Canoeing, Kayaking, boat hire and fishing can all be found along the River Lot, with the nearest point for these being Port Penne, beside Penne d'Agenais.

  • Booking notes

    Linen & Towels -  Bed linen and Towels are included in the price of your booking.  Pool towels and baby linen are not included unless otherwise stated. 

    Arrival & Departure - Guest are requested not to arrive before 16h00 on the day of arrival, and to depart by 10h00 on the day of departure. All bookings are from Saturday to Saturday in July and August.

    Cleaning -  There is no fixed cleaning charge at this property. Guests are requested to leave the property in the same state of cleanliness as it was found, and to co-operate with any departure requests from the Managers. 

    End of Stay cleaning at Clavel may be available on request: It is at the discretion of the Caretakers/Managers, and must strictly be arranged in advance of your stay. Please contact HL for further information and cost. 

    Security Deposit -  A Security Deposit of £700 will be added to your invoice.  This will normally be repaid during the week after your booking ends.  

Changeover Day

How To Book

Making a provisional booking - Choose a currency and then click on the start date of your holiday, then on the departure date. A pop-up box will appear with the price & availability. (Note mandatory changeover dates for some seasons.) Click "BOOK NOW" that will show the provisional booking form to fill out.  You will then see the price but you will not be asked to make payment at this time. 

Your completed provisional booking form will be acknowledged, and we will confirm availability with the Property Managers.  Once confirmed, we will request a DEPOSIT, 20% of the Rental, and hold your booking for up to 3 days. 

The booking is complete when your deposit is received. Then you will receive an Invoice for the balance plus Security Deposit and any extra items ordered, to be paid no less than 8 weeks before Arrival date (or immediately if the booking is less than 8 weeks away) 

When payment of the invoice is received, directions and access information for the property will be sent.

Payment can be made in £GBP, €EUR or $USD via bank transfer or credit credit. (UK debit cards are also accepted.)  For any other payment method - please contact us
