Lastours is a modern bungalow which is situated outside a walled garden attached to a large impressive Quercy stone house a few kilometres from the charming village of Montcuq. The bungalow has its own access from the quiet road that runs through the hamlet of Lastours, and beyond the bungalow is a large fenced area extending to around 1ha
The views across the wooded countryside from the bungalow are unspoiled, and The Owners' who live in the large house have gained repeated praise from Guests for both their discretion and the warmth of their welcome.
The furnishings and equipment are high quality, and Lastours makes a convenient and comfortable base for a small family or a couple looking for a peaceful retreat. Being pet friendly, Lastours is also ideal with the large garden fenced for reasonably secure exercise for your pets.
The swimming pool is within the grounds of the Owners' house, but is maintained exclusively for Guests, and not used by the Owners. Being within the walled garden is it both sheltered and very private.
The active and friendly village of Montcuq with a strong English expat presence is only a few km away.
The bungalow is set well off the road in a large area of land, and the access is exclusive for the bungalow across a gravelled path.
Entering the Bungalow on the south side as shown in the picture (The opposite side from the road access) you have two entrances. The left hand entrance goes into the Kitchen which is arranged around a compact L shaped run of units, including hob and oven, dishwasher and a range of utensils. A small table with chairs completes the furniture.
Leaving the Kitchen, A door leads onto a passage, off which is a Bathroom, with bath & shower over, and basin. The Washing Machine is also in here. There is then a separate Store, and a wc.
On the opposite side of the passage is the large open Sitting/Dining room with a comfortable cane 3 piece suite, and a large round dining table. The modern and older style furniture blend well together, and the Television completes the furniture. There are two pairs of French doors which open onto a terrace that runs all the way around the house, enabling guests to seek sun or shade as they wish.
Returning to the passage, a turn brings you to the second entrance.
Beyond this are the two bedrooms: one Double and one Twin.
The Double bedroom has a large wardrobe, and also a pair of glazed doors opening onto the terrace.
The Twin bedroom has storage, and large east facing windows to get the first light of the day.
Around the bungalow is nearly an acre of well kept grass, and is ideal for exercise, either people or animals - plenty of space for ball games for either! Outdoor furniture with a large sunshade gives the alternative of sitting there enjoying the peace and the view.
Lastours enjoys a slightly elevated position, and a gorgeous view for a couple of miles over the wooded countryside around the area.
Across the garden, the 12 x 6m Swimming pool is on the Owners side of the wall that divides the parts of their garden, but the Owners admit to not liking the water, and maintain the pool exclusively for the Guests, so it is private to Guests. The pool has an alarm system and water purity is maintained with chlorine.
The pool is a sun trap right under the high garden wall, and the large terrace has sun loungers and shades available.

Lastours is situated in an area where there are many spectacular landscape views across the undulating countryside, apart from the very pleasant view from the house itself. It is in a very quiet area, and traffic is very light even in high season. The nearest supermarket shopping is either at Montaigu de Quercy or Montcuq.
The area around is a great food production area, and as you travel you will see acres of sunflowers and maize, interspersed with vineyards, fruit orchards, vegetable fields and nut groves. Many of these products are available from artisans at the local markets which are held somewhere nearby on most days of the week: Montcuq's market is on Sunday morning, and a fuller list is available under The Area at the top of this page. Many of the wineries in the area have tastings and direct purchase available: Again, some are listed under the Links above, but they are widespread throughout the area, this being the heartland of the Cahors AOC.
Much produce also finds its way to restaurants locally, and with other local specialities such as duck and lamb almost always available, eating out is generally of high quality and very well priced. Montcuq and Montaigu de Quercy both have a good selection of restaurants to suit all budgets.
Besides the natural history of the area, history also abounds, with each village having its own character. Many of the villages are medieval in origin, with timbered buildings lining narrow streets off town squares, usually with impressive central structures. Among these, Lauzerte is listed as one of 'Les Plus beaux villages de France'
Also within reasonable distance of Lastours, east of Cahors on the river Lot is another of 'Les Plus Beaux villages', St Cirq Lapopie.
For water based activities the River Lot at Cahors or any of the villages along the river will find canoe and boat hire, river cruises and fishing. For a family day, Montaigu de Quercy has a water park, with a large sandy beach area, Lifeguard patrolled (in season) swimming, pedalo and boat hire and zip wires around the lake. There is also a bar and a restaurant.
Further afield, there are the Chaeaux of Biron and Bonaguil in gorgeous countryside north of the river Lot that are very popular visits, and to the south the towns of Montauban and Moissac on the Tarn have most attractive historic features. The spectacular Aveyron Gorge and the village of St Antonin Noble Val also make a good day out.
